Valentine's Day

Can someone please tell me what the fuss is about for this? Yeah, it is a day to share your love with that special someone but don't you do that everyday? If you don't, that sounds a bit wrong. Don't get me wrong, I know I sound jealous because I don't have that special someone to share it with but hear me out. Gifts on Valentine's day, you don't really have to wait till that day to give a gift to someone you love. Valentine's day, it feels like it is compulsory to give. I mean, why don't the guy send a rose to his girl just because it is a Monday. That will trully mean more then expecting a bunch of roses for just one day. And girls, I've known some that will cry just cause their partner didn't buy the exact pair of earrings that she wanted. I mean, it is the thought that count.

Valentine's day is about love, maybe just a small reminder that you have someone to celebrate it with. Sure it is nice to be treated, but, you don't have to wait till that day arrives. As long as you have each other, why wait? I know a few people that were looking forward to spending valentine's day with their partner, with all the plans and all but in the end break up before that happens. Then how? You will be left heartbroken and sorry that you didn't get to carry out your plans earlier. (or maybe anger and relieve cause you don't have to spend money)

Okay, I know I sounded a bit harsh before and this is just a rant. Maybe cause just now, they were talking about valentine's day and what, who and how are you going to spend it touched a sore nerve. It would be nice to have someone other than your family to spend that time with. To make you feel special. But life is just. That day will eventually come to all.

Plus, when I was over at Stella Maris for Rachel's birthday (will talk about that soon), a phrase just floated into my head and I wrote it down in the sand.

I was thinking about how I wrote a letter for this guy and I actually sent it to him. And the worst part was I told him I loved him. But he replied "I already love you..." If that happens, it was worth the wait. Of not spending valentine's day this year or the next. As long as I am with the guy I love for the rest of my life. I rather have one very special person in my life than move on from one partner to the next. Cause everytime you are with a new person, you give part of your heart to him. And most of the time, they will misuse it or break your heart. And you will be left with less love to offer the next.

Maybe that is why I cling on. I want to spend my life just with him. And no other. But if God has other plans in store and things don't work out, I wouldn't mind. As long as I have the very good friends I have now, I am really grateful for it. I don't need one person to love me when I have a bunch of friends that already do. Okay, my apologies for just now rants. I was bitter. He is still dear to me. I would do anything for him. Seriously. But, I am not going to be as foolish as to quickly jump into relationships anymore. That experience has given me wisdom. It also brought me closer to God. So thanks. And I wish you all the best with your current girl sincerely from the bottom of my heart.

Lots of love,
Adele Emily

Days of my life

Well, yeah.. I haven't been blogging for a while because of the fact that I was swamped with camps the whole of last week. On Thursday till Friday (5-6 Feb 09), we (The post form five) stayed over in CHS for the 'Powered By The Spirit' which is a crash course of Life in the Spirit Seminar. So we had lots of PAW and praying. The morning on Thurs, we learnt about God the Father's love. We learnt how to forgive our dads in order to have a better relationship with God. Then, in the afternoon we had power nap which I used to talk to Helena. She advised me on a few stuff and help me through a few problems I was facing with my friends. That night, we had to carry out some skits. I was in group 2 which had to do the crucifix of Jesus. We made it funny (By adding a few noises and actions... Mostly the actors as I was merely narrator.) but in the end, of course we had to make it serious. My proudest moment was when I said "Jesus died for us on the cross. He took away the sins of the world so that we may enter the Kingdom of God. Like John 3:16 says,
For God so loved the world that he gave His only son that whoever that believes in Him will have eternal Life.
Well, our group was the last.

Up first was the Prodigal Son which were presented by group 3. They had American Lingo like : Yo, dad, give me yo cash, yo... and the father (acted by Ken) had only RM27 for the son's inheritance. The funniest was when the son returned, the father presented him with gifts like slippers (pink and small) for his bare feet, a cloak (a white girl sweater) for his back and a ring.

Next was group 1 with the rising of Lazarus. The funniest was Lazarus tapping his fingers, waiting for Jesus (Jacky) to raise him back. Jesus on the other hand acted like he was performing a magic show with his hands outstretched. The way he talked was superb. He couldn't get one sentence out without us audience laughing so hard.

After the skits, we had inner healing. We learnt to completely forgive everyone that hurt us. There to minister over us was David, Sharon, Aaron, Ah Fan, Helena and of course Andre. It was a tough night but it was worth it. I never felt my heart so light and filled with joy after that. I realised that because of that I was able to put my problems aside and listen to God and my own heart.

That night, the only frustrating thing was that the girls didn't want to sleep and well, pretty much got on my nerves seeing that I am a very light sleeper. But eventually, everything grew quiet and I drift off into much needed sleep.

The morning, we learnt about Jesus's Love. How he suffered to save our lives. How painful the torture was. But he still did it. For us. We praised Him and thanked him. After the talk, we sang 'Above All' and bowed and kneel in front of the crucifix to ask God the Son to forgive our sins and everything. The afternoon went pass and it was time to learn about the Holy Spirit. One thing that Andre said that kept inside me was, "There is no such thing as luck - it is a blessing"

That afternoon, I managed to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. It was something I will never forget.
~~~
The weekend, I was in Ipoh and this time Joan and Matthew didn't join us but instead was replaced by Greg. Throughout the whole time in Ipoh, we had loads of fun and talked to some old friends that we met so long ago (actually, only in dec) but it was great catching up with them. They managed to run the whole gathering almost single handedly. It was a proud moment for all of us. Well, it was pretty much the same things we went through and as usual slept at 4 something.
At 7.45 a.m., Miss Helena woke me up and I had to wake up the rest. As usual, Ken and Mark didn't want to wake up van dthe Ipoh youths that stayed over didn't move an inch. But in the end, we managed to get off the mattresses long enough for breakfast.
After that, we joined the meeting for PAG in St. Michael. We had a short intercessory with the internal team to boost their confidence through prayer. It was generally productive and we could see the youth coming out to pray without much hesistation, which was a good thing.
We skipped lunch and headed straight home. After we reached Penang, we had KFC which Helena generously paid for as a job well done. I was sent home first after that and from the car, I received a 'air kiss' from one of them. =) It was funny to see their reaction when I returned it.
~~~
Well, right now, today is Wednesday, 11.02.09 which I can happily say that I PASSED MY MOTORBIKE TEST! The night before, I had trouble sleeping so I called Dad to call me from Shanghai just to talk. Before that, I was reading the Bible which had become my solace from all my worries. I was just wondering if God could give me a sign as to whether my prayers were being answered and I ran across a Bible Verse. Mark 11:24 says "When you pray and ask for something, believe that you will receive it and you will be given whatever you ask for."

After that, I was calmed down and managed to fall asleep. That morning I was sms-ing William and Wil Sern with my nerves on a all time high. But they told me the same things, remember to take deep breaths, calm your nerves and relax. Thanks guys. I also have to say thanks to those that prayed for me the night before (Ken) and for being there when I announced my great news. It was a great day. I had never been so (in terms of David) euphoric. I couldn't stop smiling and I nearly cried. Thanks God, for everythig and for answering my prayers. I will declare to the whole world once again, "ALLELUIA, PRAISE THE LORD, AMEN!"

Kenny's Surprise Party

Well, firstly, we had to pull it off without him knowing. That was pretty hard as babe kept dropping hints e.g.
Babe : Eh, check her phone messages la.
Ken : Why leh? (Looks at me with raised eyebrows)
Babe : Cause got secret messages from her new boyfriend.
Me : Wei, don't ah. (Looks warningly at Babe)
Ken : No la, I won't read. Later get scolding

And it went on. Well, I was worried as the first five messages on my phone was about his party. And babe knew. Teruk! Haha, anyways, we (Babe - driving, Greg, Jack and me) arrived at RED-BOX at about 7.00 p.m. There, the rest of them nicely resting in the room and complaining that they were hungry. So, Adeline, David, Helena, Mark, Benny, Greg, Jack, Babe, me. Andre was already at Gurney, keeping the birthday boy busy (fish spa, movie and all).

Yeah, I also made a card for Ken from all of us. It was the first time i did art since ... TWO YEARS AGO. lol. It was a bit hard to find supplies and all, but alas, pulled it off.

Yeah, so, when he came in, at around 7.45, he was so surprised. Haha, we all wished him and it was MAKAN TIME! It was a buffet and everyone took as much as they could carry and the songs started playing. And, we started singing. It was really fun. At first, before Ken arrived, David was singing most of the time as none of us wanted. But slowly, I took the mike and started singing. It was fun. Yeah, pretty much sing sing sing all the way. In the end, Babe was singing most of the songs (old or new). It was cool as originally, he didn't want to. Anyways, i had a couple of duets. One was with David singing 'Beauty and the Beast'. Ken was laughing at the reference Beast and Helena said that the song refered to him. And he said that he was Beauty and I'm the beast. Very funny. Anyways, after more songs which Andre introduced to us (Malaysian artist) and the songs were really nice. Then came the wonderful birthday cake.

Yeah, there was a speech by Ken (just thanks and sorry)...
After that, he had a whole slice of cake for himself.

Goal : Eat the whole slice without the help of his hands and he had to kneel. It was funny as the guys (Babe and Mark) kept forcing his head into the cake and you could hear his muffled complaints. Then it was photo session with the birthday boy with his mouth covered in cream!

Well, after that, we all made personal toast to him. Yes, every single one of us. The topics about Portuguese dance in church, a triangular smile, school, kindy and Violin exam's came up. So, after that, in order to thank us, he had a bit to say about every single one of us. It was sweet as I always get 'kutuking' from him. After that, it was nearly a wrap up. We sang a couple more songs and it was goodbye!

3. Do you like someone you can't have?

A day out visiting children's homes (7 Jan 09)

It started with us (Andre, Kenneth, Wil Sern, Jacky and me) having to meet in church to sort out the presents for the children. The girls' pile (sorted by WS and me) had 189 presents! Amazing, right? The boys' pile (sorted by K and J) had 178! Apparently, K was having a competition on who had the most presents. (Ahem, we know who wins...) Anyways, then we had to sort out to which home we should send it to. Like Shan's, Shammah and H.O.G (House of Grace, what are you thinking?). So we hauled big plastic bags into A's booth and off we were to drop them off. Firstly, we dropped the Shan's presents. Inside, there was only one kid because the rest were in school. We found out that the kids had to eat on floors as there weren't enough space for all to sit on proper tables and chairs. It was pretty sad really. The kids even had a board where they earned stars (if they're good) and dots (when they're naughty). We didn't stay long.

After that, we had lunch and went on to the next house... Shammah! There, we saw more children as they already returned from school. This couple (Steven and Wife) took it to their responsibility to take care of these children. Imagine, they dropped everything of comfort to help others. People, this is trully God's work in disguise. The kids over there were playing a simple game using the alphabet song. They passed round a sweet and the person to have it when the song end has to do a forfeit. We teens decided to join them in. All of us got a forfeit except J. The kids were sad to see us leaving and maybe in the future we plan to visit them again to spend time with them seeing that we have LOTS of free time.
Anyways, that was pretty much it. We had tea (cendol, passembur and ice kacang!) at New World Park and went back home. Today, I learnt that we should all be thankful of what we have and never complain as there are so many less fortunate out there. Next time, you want to complain about your parents, think of those that would do anything to get a parents' love. Or the next time you want to complain that the computer games are not intersting or you are bored, think about those who do not have anything to play with. We should stop wasting money on materialistic stuff. Look at those kids, they were happy with their lives without it. That day, I learnt so many life lessons and it was so worth it being there to share the joy with kids.

Life's message

Have you ever wondered which hurts the most? Saying something and wishing you hadn't?, or Saying nothing and wishing you had? I guess the most important things are the hardest things to say. Don't be afraid to tell someone you love them.

If you do, they might break your heart...if you don't, you might break theirs.Have u ever decided not 2 become a couple because you were so afraid of losing what you already had with that person? Your heart decides whom it likes and whom it doesn't.You can't tell your heart what to do. It does it on its own........when you least suspect it, or even when you don't want it to. Have you ever wanted to love someone with everything you had, but that other person was too afraid to let you? Too many of us stay walled up because we are too afraid to care too much...for fear that the other person does not care as much, or even at all. Have you ever denied your feelings for someone because your fear of rejection was too hard to handle? We tell lies when we are afraid... afraid of what wedon't know, afraid of what others will think, afraid of what will be found out about us.

But every time we tell a lie, the thing we fear grows stronger. Life is all about risks and it requires you to jump.Don't be a person who has to look back and wonder what they would have done, or could have had.

* What would you do if every time you fell in love you had to say good-bye?
*What would you do if every time you wanted someone they would never be there?
*What would you do if your best friend died tomorrow and you never got to tell them how you felt? (even if it is that you don't care anymore)
*What would you do if you loved someone more than ever and you couldn't have them?
*What would you do if you never got the chance to say I am friends with all of my family and they know I love them?
*People live, but people die. I want to tell you that you are a friend.

If you died tomorrow (God Forbid)
you would be in my heart.Would I be in yours?
